Hackney Family Garden
This semi-detached Victorian townhouse had been previously split into flats and the garden had consequently become unloved and overgrown due to lack of clear ownership.
The current owners were keen to create a garden that whilst being sympathetic to the period of the house would also inject a bit of life and interest into the space. Producing a garden that would be child friendly and would incorporate a potager were also priorities.
The garden we designed included a new sandstone terrace and cedar pergola with a bespoke poured concrete worktop (colour matched to the sandstone) and bespoke dining table and benches. Further from the house we planted mature 3m Hornbeam screening and constructed extensive raised beds including a multi-layered potager.
The planting is mainly fairly traditional ‘English Country Garden’ near the house and more lush ferns and shrubs further from the house.
